Steelers WR Plaxico Burress To Have Surgery After Suffering Significant Shoulder Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced Friday via a statement that the shoulder injury suffered Thursday by veteran wide receiver Plaxico Burress was a significant one and it will require surgery.

According to reports late Thursday evening, Burress, who will turn 36 next week, suffered a torn rotator cuff when he hit the ground after going up for a ball that was contested by both cornerback Ryan Steed and safety DaMon Cromartie-Smith.

Being as the shoulder injury will require surgery, you have to think that Burress will indeed be done for the season and eventually placed on injured reserve at some point. In addition, Burress may have played his last down in the NFL.
