Steelers To Wear 1934 Bumblebee Throwbacks Against Lions

Back in June, Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II told Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest the team would again wear their 1934 throwback uniforms during the 2013 season, but that he wasn\’t sure for what game. Now we know.

On Saturday, the team announced the November 17 home game against the Detroit Lions as the game that will feature the Steelers again wearing their bumble-bee striped jerseys.

The throwbacks, which really didn\’t seem to be popular with the fan base initially, appear to be a little more widely accepted now.

The Steelers wore them twice last season in the home games against the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins.

I’m not quite sure why they would be more accepted, ugly isn’t exactly something that grows on you. At least it’s only once, and it’s not a national game.

    Oh yippee!

Those unis were so ugly that last year Redskins receivers could not hold onto the ball. Maybe Megatron will be distracted by these “more widely accepted jerseys.”

Yea I get to wear my throwback Timmons at Hienz when we play the Lions.

YES!!! I wore mine at the Ravens game. Tried to get my section to buzz like bumblebees when Ravens had ball. Only got a few to join me. I just think it would be really distracting to hear 65,000 people buzzing like bees.
Cheesy…a little…but I’m about the distraction…not the cheese. A guy two people down from me said I was buzzing so loud that he pulled his cellphone out of his pocket because he thought it was ringing/vibrating. So I distracted him. lol
    Just sayin’ 🙂

It also was fun since I happened to be sitting next to one of the 10 Ravens fans at that game, by chance. I know it annoyed the hell out of her!!!! Haha. Unfortunately she had the last buzz. And she did buzz at me as the clock ran out. It was fun though.
