Felix Jones Has Replaced Isaac Redman As The Co-Starter On The Depth Chart

The Pittsburgh Steelers depth chart for their upcoming game in London against the Minnesota Vikings has been released and Isaac Redman is no longer listed as a co-starter at the running back position.

Felix Jones has now passed Redman and is listed as the co-starter alongside rookie Le’Veon Bell, who will reportedly make his regular-season debut Sunday at Wembley Stadium this Sunday against the Vikings.

Redman is now listed behind Jonathan Dwyer to round out the bottom of the running back depth chart.

Jones, who fumbled in the Steelers 40-23 loss Sunday night to the Chicago Bears, leads the team in rushing with 71 yards on 17 carries.

Dwyer should be the starter. He played very well in the game, and his pass protection was incredible. He is much better than Jones.

  • steeltown

This makes perfect sense and I hope it remains this way, Felix should be top dog until Le’Veon proves worthy and healthy, then Felix should be #2 with Dwyer as the #3 3rd down pass protection back

  • Bilgewater D

You have to play Dwyer more. If he is only in on obvious passing downs, it cues the defense. It would be great if Le’veon can be healthy and productive as he can catch, run, and pass protect.

Peter King said he was the 2nd most impressive rookie in training camp that he saw. It would be nice to be pleasantly surprised for once.

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

I’d play Dwyer in all 3rd and long. Bell may be the best candidate for pushing our running game over the edge, BUT the coaches HAVE to remember he is only a rookie after all. After seeing Vikings losing to Browns without Weedon and T. Richardson (arguably Hoyer is the better qb but still) I have somewhat more confidence.

Because 0-4, OMG I can’t even watch the season anymore!

  • WilliamSekinger

Agreed. Finally, something that makes sense coming from the coaching staff.

  • CrazyTerry

Dwyer should start. Ben’s health is a bigger priority that the marginal improvement Felix brings in as a runner. That TD to AB does not happen if Felix is in there.

I never understood the love for Redman. Look at his career stats. The guy has never been able to produce no matter what role he has played. He should be in street clothes

  • Bill Eltringham

Dwyer has done everything asked of him. He out played everybody in pre season, he’s the only one that stays healthy, fumbles less than Redman, He even lost a bunch of weight. Yet they still don’t like him. Wonder why.

  • Christopher Wilkes

So far this crap with Dwyer is by far the worst set of decisions the Steelers have made this year. Just a complete joke. Good for Dwyer for making them all look stupid. I hope he keeps up the good work.

  • GunsDontKillWoodleyKills

Its because he played hard and had a few clutch plays early in his career. However now he is injury prone and a fumble machine. Its the perfect “what have you done for me lately” scenario. I personally think he should have been cut and not Dwyer. He’s nowhere near a starting caliber player.

  • Shannon Stephenson

I do not dislike Redman…the staff was taking a square peg and trying to put it in a round hole, wasn’t his fault. Tomlin is too quick to give up on his players and doesn’t know how they fit into any given system.

  • Mike Carroll

I don’t expect much out of rookies, but this is one case where I really feel like we could be pleasantly surprised. RB is on the easiest positions for rookies to step into and most reports on Bell have been positive. If he can truly be an adequate feature back it will be big boost for the offense.

  • Harold Hal Bubby Wright

steelers i hope arent making a mistake by playing Jones and Bell. you can check the film and see Jones cant pick up a biltzing defensive player consistently. Bell is only liked because of his size,he is listed at 6’1 230 pounds,so the steelers believe he is big enough to handle blitzing players. Dwyer has proven to be a 3 down back and a running back is only as good as his O-line doesnt matter who you are. If the steelers dont want to play Dwyer cut him and let him play else were. Dwyer had offers from 3 teams before the steelers came calling. Seems to me that he wants to be a Steeler! So management need to swallow there pride and PLAY the MAN! Oh and PLAY Wheaton in the three wide reciever sets! I really didnt like what i seen at MS from Bell,Hopefully Im wrong!

  • Mike Carroll

We’re not going to have to worry about 0-4. They’ll be ready this week. Let’s go Steelers!

  • Mike Carroll

He will be at the end of this year. It was a big mistake to pay him the $1.3M, but I guess Redman gets a nice retirement package for his efforts. I doubt he sees action with any team next year.

  • Harold Hal Bubby Wright

I dont think Bell should start over Dwyer. He should earn his way into the starting lineup. Very bad example to set for the young players!

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

Wish I had your confidence. I don’t. We have lost to Titans who are somewhat similar to Vikings from talent standpoint and we lost. They have Adrian Peterson and Jared Allen.

  • Ahmad

Dwyer may not be the starter but he most definitely should be the 3rd down back. Last game proved that he can protect Big Ben when it matters most.

  • CrazyTerry

The guy was absolute money on clutch plays 2 years ago. He lost some of it last year and this year he has been horrible. But let’s not rewrite his entire career. Stats are for baseball fans. I cannot recall too many plays in which he failed to get the tough yard when there was some kind of hole or take a catch and get some clutvch yards after it.
