Former Steelers CB Isaiah Green Passed Through Waivers Tuesday Unclaimed

Several people have asked me today about cornerback Isaiah Green, who was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday to make room for defensive back Antwon Blake. According to the Tuesday official NFL transaction report, Green passed through waivers unclaimed.

So, will the Steelers now sign Green back to practice squad on Wednesday? It’s really hard to say right now, but you would think that it’s possible considering the fact that the only cornerback currently on the practice squad is Devin Smith, who was behind Green on the depth chart ever since he was signed to the 90 man roster during training camp.

The Steelers thought enough of Green to keep him on their original 53 man roster, so it is hard to imagine that he fell out of favor that quick.

Green was originally signed by the Steelers back in January, so I don’t believe that we’ve seen the last of him unless another team signs him top their practice squad over the course of the next few days.

This is the most active offseason I can remember! So grateful for the Depot crew and ur ability to keep us immediately updated!

  • Ken Sterner

Thanks for the update Dave. I hope they sign Green to the practice squad. He stood out among the cb’s the day I was at training camp. He looked good in the preseason games also.

Agree with that. I love checking in and getting the perspective.

Green did play well, he didnt log too many snaps in preseason, I think maybe 43 but he had a couple PDs and only a allowed 2or 3 receptions. I hope the Steelers do sign him back to the PS

  • gene mann

I hope they sign him and add him to the PS. The guy did make the original 53

  • Douglas Andrews

Would like to see him back on ps. If i’m counting right don’t we have about 20 new players on the roster this year?

  • walter mason

They are not all “new” but we have about 20 players not on the roster last year.

  • Fu-Schnickens

Good call, Matt. I too love the coverage. Thanks, Dave and Dave!

That’s alot of roster turnover. I mean almost half of our 53 is made of players not on the roster last year and I still see a competitive team on paper. If our record is not better than last year it won’t be because the Front Office and Coach T didn’t try.
