Former Steelers Defensive Lineman L.C. Greenwood Has Died At Age 67

According to several media reports, former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood died Sunday afternoon at the age of 67.

A member of the vaunted Steel Curtain defense in the 1970’s, Greenwood played for the Steelers from 1969-81 and earned four Super Bowl rings with them.

During his career, Greenwood made it to the Pro Bowl six times and finished his career with 73 1/2 unofficial sacks, which ranks second in franchise history behind linebacker Jason Gildon.

Greenwood, who was drafted by the Steelers in the tenth round of the 1969 NFL Draft out of Ark-Pine Bluff, was twice a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and 2006 but was not elected either year.

Greenwood played in 170 regular season games with the Steelers and retired in 1981.
