Rams Sign Former Steelers T Max Starks

Former Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Max Starks now has a new home as he signed a one-year deal Wednesday with the St. Louis Rams.

Starks, who signed a one-year, $2 million deal in May with the San Diego Chargers in May, was later released in August after not playing well during the preseason.

The Rams lost starting right tackle Rodger Saffold to knee injury this past week and they claimed free agent tackle Mike Person off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Monday. Starks was likely added on Wednesday as depth.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Joe Barksdale is expected to start at right tackle Sunday when the Rams play the Dallas Cowboys.

Starks, who was originally drafted by the Steelers in the third-round of the 2004 NFL Draft, started all 16 games for the black and gold last season.

    Speaking of offensive lineman…..
Did Dave do O line grades for week 1? Or did I manage to miss them?

man would love flozell adams right about now..

My gut feel says poor OL plays really dampened Dave’s desire to do them.

He’s done. Watched him in San Diego this summer and their tackles are poor, he was worse. Great guy but he can’t carry all of that weight anymore. They cut him and ate a million in cap space to do it.

I agree with Joe…he’s done…maybe we should be as desperate as the Rams were, but I think it’s time to turn the page…these guys were drafted pretty high…they have to get enough reps as a unit to prove they can, or cannot play…the sampling is way too small to be making a change not due to injury imo.

If SD’s tackles are poor, how much worse are ours? I watched that MNF that SD choked in the second half. THeir tackle play seemed better than ours. Besides, Starks has always done the job better in the real games. He can’t be worse than our tackles. And even if our starting tackles improve overnihgt, starks is not worse than Whimper , for sure.

I guess it wouldn’t really be a sleeper but a better tackle than what we have there protecting ben
