Report: Steelers K Shaun Suisham Could Be Sidelined A Few Weeks By Hamstring Injury

While the hamstring injury suffered Sunday during pregame warm-ups by Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham is not expected to put him out for the season, Mike Garafalo of FOX Sports 1 reports via Twitter that it could keep him out a few weeks.

Following the Sunday season opening loss to the Tennessee Titans, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did not elaborate about Suisham’s injury. Instead, he said “We’ll see what that holds.”

Garafalo thinks the Steelers might be interested in Shayne Graham as possible replacement for Suisham should he indeed wind up being sidelined.

Outside of Graham, the Steelers could decide to bring back Danny Hrapmann, who was with the team during the offseason and the start of training camp. Hrapmann, who has never kicked in a regular season game, is no stranger to the Steelers as he was also with the team last preseason as well.

Suisham is in year three of the four-year deal that he signed back in July of 2011 and hasn’t missed a game since being signed during the 2010 season.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Wow! even the kicker got hurt. I am not usually a very reactionary person, but I think this is going to be a very long year. Frankly, I simply have seen nothing to make me think otherwise. …..particularly on the offensive side.

M*A*S*H. Alan Alda… minus the hot lips Houlihan. Football Gods could be cruel, sometimes.

Okay…so.the Triage count is as follows: 1 Center (gone for the season), 1 ILB (gone for the season) , 1 Running back (gone for the season) , 1 Corner (gone for who knows how many weeks), 1 Safety who left the game twice with shoulder/stinger issues, 1 Kicker (gone for who knows how many weeks), did I miss anyone? Ugh !!!! Nothing like getting your A$$ handed to you while getting kicked in the B@LL$ while your down!
It is painfully obvious that some of the ‘young’ins” are going to have to play and play now! So a plan, we need a plan. Well, if we are going to go young, then Cody Wallace plays center, after all we claimed the kid off waivers for some reason, right? Beachum continues to be Mr. do everything sub where we need him along the line and tight end blocker. Vince Williams takes over for Foote, that is what he was drafted for and he showed an aptitude for getting the other rookies lined up properly in spring work outs. Gay takes over at corner until Cortez is back, Shamarko takes nickle role unless he is subbing for Clark until he is back, then it is up to Curtis Brown, we get a kicker off the street, and now what to do about a running back? That is the next big question isn’t it? Al Alexander hasn’t shown much, Dwyer has been cut for reasons (get over it) and could be brought back for less money IF he wants to eat a ton of crow and feed his new baby, but that is unlikely, get someone off the street?, who? where? Looks like Al is it to me.
Coach T. says the standard is the standard, blah blah blah, but I got one for Coach T. “Coach them up Coach, do it now, do it with urgency, and do it right! Got me?” If I were Art II, that would be the gist of what I would say to Coach T., but then again, I am not known for being subtle nor was I hired for my attitude, so, be that as it may, that is my plan. What’s yours?

My hamstring is tightening up just reading all these reports.

  • Rod Hedrick

They need to look at a new training program.

  • Jonas

I’ve heard even Steely McBeam is hurt..

No problem…Steelers offense can’t get within field goal range anyhow. Time to start rebuilding because this year is toast already. Trade Polamalu for a draft choice before he gets hurt again and save the salary cap money for next year. Perhaps they can sign a quality free agent lineman then and draft a couple more. It might even be wise to trade Ben because he is being wasted behind this awful pathetic line and he’ll likely get hurt again anyway. Colbert and Tomlin are to blame because they evidently have no clue what a decent o-lineman looks like !

  • T R

Where do you work.. We need you on the Pittsburgh staff. seem you got the planned worked out better then we do at this point.. LOL

  • steeltown

    Of course..

  • Bradys_Dad

    My feelings are hurt.

  • Shannon Stephenson

Give Hrapmann the job and least see if he has the ability to play on the big stage.

  • Tom

How about Jeff Reed? Is he sober and in shape?

  • steeltown

I agree.. I’d play TE Palmer more this week as an in-line blocker along with Beachum. I hope Cody Wallace is ready because we’re going to most likely need Beachum elsewhere. Get Wheaton on the field on Offense , maybe rotate him in with Cotchery and also get Felix involved on Offense.. and utilize Will Johnson PLEASE

On Defense, yes I’d start V.Williams and maybe rotate in Kion Wilson at times. Otherwise the Defense played well and should continue to do so, hopefully Cortez is not injured to badly

  • Michael Pearce

Bring back Hrapmann. I hate first games of the season, they have been bad to us many times(injury wise).
