Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller played nearly 60% of the snaps in his first game back from reconstructive knee surgery Sunday night against the Chicago Bears and head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that he isn’t likely to be limited moving forward.
“Heath Miller participated in the game and really did a nice job,” said Tomlin. “Obviously, we were on a pitch count, if you will, in term of the amount of snaps we gave him. He performed well. We’ll continue to move forward hopefully this week with no restrictions whatsoever and let him to continue to work his way back to health and help us at the tight end position.”
Despite having his snap count monitored against the Bears, Miller still caught three passes for 35 yards in the loss. His involvement in the Steelers offense should continue to grow now and it won’t be surprising to see him play 80% or more of the snaps Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Miller led the team in receptions last season with 71 for 816 yards and eight touchdowns.
