Steelers Injury Report: CB Cortez Allen Still Sidelined; TE Heath Miller Wearing Knee Brace

The Pittsburgh Steelers have wrapped up their Thursday practice as they continue to prepare to play the Chicago Bears Sunday night at Heinz Field and the second injury report for the week has now been released.

Cornerback  Cortez Allen (ankle) did not practice again on Thursday and it is looking like he will miss his second consecutive game thanks to an ankle injury he suffered in the season opener.

Linebacker Jarvis Jones (heel) was limited for a second straight day on Thursday due to a heel contusion that he suffered in the Monday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Jones is expected to practice fully on Friday, however, and should be ready to go Sunday night.

The Steelers continue to ramp up the rehab of running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) as he practiced fully Thursday for the first time since injuring his foot during the preseason. Bell is still not expected to play against the Bears.

Tight end Heath Miller (knee) practiced fully again on Thursday and that’s a great sign as it shows he had no setbacks following his first full practice on Wednesday. Miller is wearing a knee brace, however, which he says he has to get used to. It is still unclear if Miller will play Sunday night against the Bears and he will likely be listed as questionable on the Friday injury report if he is able to go full a third straight day.

Cornerback Curtis Brown (illness), defensive end Brett Keisel (calf) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (hamstring) all practiced fully on Thursday and all three look like they are on track to play Sunday night. Brown’s illness could be a result of a concussion that he suffered in the season opener.

Nice to see ALL the full participants this week

Im trying to figure out what they do with C.Brown in practice… does he look that bad when he’s going up against Wheaton, Cotchery or Moye or whoever? Is it all mental weakness that overwhelms him on Sundays when he’s in the game under the lights on Defense?? I just don’t understand because the athletic ability seems to be there.

If Lake and Woodson and Lebeau cant fix his problems, then he has no hope

It’s encouraging that Le’Veon Bell is beginning to practice fully… I think his comeback has been downplayed a little due to the woes of the offensive line, but nonetheless I’m excited to see this kid suit up.
Hopefully some of these guys coming back will provide a nice spark for this team.

I agree, I’m excited to see what Le’Veon can do and what the OLine can do with him running the ball. The team drafted Bell and the OLine to work as a unit and we have yet to see what they can do together. It may be wishful thinking, but I think there’s a chance Le’Veon steps in and they get it done, providing the offense with enough of a running game to balance the offense.

Head case and no self confidence.

Rookie TE David Paulson lept’ high to avoid a tackle, landed HARD, stripped from behind and fumbled.

Mr. Paulson could’ve taken a less severe angle and avoided crash landing; why took risks that weren’t needed, David. Learn from your mistakes and please IMPROVE FOR FUTURE GAMES… please.

There are many clips of our OL “miscommunicate” resulting a sack to Big Ben… much like three stoogies. 2 OL blocking 2 DL and they still couldn’t get it right…come on, Kramer!

Maybe got the physical tools but not the mental tools. Not just confidence, but knowing the defensive schemes and adapting on the field.

  • treeher

Any NFL caliber running back will be successful behind a good OL. Don’t look for much from Bell unless the OL makes a turnaround.

maybe if they all worn knee braces from otas and to the season they be so used to them and wouldnt be hurt so much maybe steelers need to invest money into new knee braces i am sure is some one out there that can come up with a knew kind and lighter ones …

Maybe Brown strained his neck cause he sucks so hard

  • Callentown

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. What a buzz-kill.

First, we don’t get to see this guy run in a game at all. Then, we lose him for the first quarter of the season. And when he finally, I hope, sees the field, we’ll just be watching another number run into a pile of our inept O-lineman.

    Sad.
