Steelers Injury Update: Miller To Have Work Increased; Allen Not Expected To Work Early In Week

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference Tuesday and updated the health of the team following his opening statement.

Tomlin said center Maurkice Pouncey (knee) is scheduled for surgery Thursday after tearing both his ACL and MCL in the season opener. Inside linebacker Larry Foote (biceps) had surgery Tuesday morning, while running back LaRod Stephens-Howling (knee) is scheduled to go under the knife on Tuesday. All three players were placed on injured reserve on Monday.

Tight end Heath Miller (knee) will have his work increased this week, but Tomlin was non-committal as to whether or not he will play Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

As for rookie running back Le’Veon Bell (foot), Tomlin would only say that he his continuing to work his way back.

Cornerback Cortez Allen (ankle) is not expected to practice at the beginning of the week and Tomlin said they will see where he is health-wise closer to game time.

Kicker Shaun Suisham (hamstring) might have a chance to kick Monday night as his hamstring injury is not a significant one. Tomlin said Shayne Graham was signed as insurance.
