Steelers Week 3 Injury Report: CB Cortez Allen Still Sidelined; TE Heath Miller Practiced Fully

The Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday practice was pushed back but is now over and the first injury report of the week has now been released for the Sunday night game against the Chicago Bears.

Not practicing Wednesday was cornerback Cortez Allen (ankle) and that’s not a huge surprise. Allen injured his ankle in the season opener and was not able to play Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals as a result. While it’s still early in the week, Allen’s status for Sunday appears to be doubtful right now. The team promoted cornerback Isaiah Green from their practice squad on Tuesday and he would likely dress Sunday night if Allen is unable to play.

Tight end Heath Miller (knee) practiced fully Wednesday for the first time this year just as head coach Mike Tomlin said he would during his Tuesday press conference. As for Miller’s availability on Sunday, that is still uncertain.

Linebacker Jarvis Jones (heel) and running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) were both limited Wednesday. Jones suffered a bruised heel Monday night but is expected to play against the Bears. Bell, however, is not expected to play Sunday night as he is just now starting to ramp up his rehab.

Defensive end Brett Keisel (calf) did not practice Wednesday after suffering a strained calf Monday night.

Nose tackle Steve McLendon (hamstring) practiced fully and he is expected to be good to go by Sunday night.

    4-12

  • Sdale

wow, did you see the Browns traded Trent Richardson?

  • joed32

That shows why they never get any better.

  • Eric

Lets trade Issac Redman to the Colts, or anyone for that matter

  • Mkeller

How is Marcus Gilbert going to block Julius peppers? Better give him some help and I don’t mean Paulson.

  • RW

I would take no picks and give them money.

  • Eric

Good one. Made me laugh :)

Maybe some of you can give me some insight here. This is the first year I’ve subscribed to ProFootballFocus. I’m not really sure what to make of them, some credible people put a lot of stock into it, but then there are things that make me scratch my head, like their grade for Ike this week.
Ike gave up 7/14 completions for 56 yards. Only allowed 15 YAC. Longest play was 12 yards and gave up no TDs and had 1 break up. QBR against was 59.5. All that came against Green with little safety help. Taylor definitely seemed to pass the eye test during the game, and I though, did a great job.
Yet PFF gave him a -2.0 coverage grade. That put him as 42/48 CBs with playing 75% of snaps. How does this make sense?
For comparison, McCourty gave up 6/9 for 77 yards, 15 YAC, 25 long, 1 TD, no INT or PD, 130.3 QBR against. That came mostly against A.Johnson. Not bad against Johnson, but doesn’t seem as good as Taylor’s game….he earned a +1.5 which was good for 4/48 in coverage.
Does their grading have any credibility?

  • falconsaftey43

Oh, and they only Steeler on offense to earn a worse grade than Taylor was Adams with a -5.1.

  • Shannon Stephenson

Peppers has been ailing and played few snaps last week vs the Viks.

  • Christopher Wilkes

    I don’t think it was a joke ;)

  • Christopher Wilkes

Those grades are crap. I don’t know why anyone would ever pay them any attention. Trust your own eyes.

  • joed32

Absolutely, their grades make no sense at all.

  • NW86

    Troll much?

  • NW86

Ridiculous. You have to wonder what goes on in their heads. They got a 2014 draft pick so they can build for the future. They’ve been “building for the future” for 20 years now, but in order for it to work, you actually have to keep some of the players you draft….

Hey does anyone know how our old friend Keenan Lewis is doing in N.O.? Has to be better than Allen, unless Keenan has been injured the whole time as well.

  • steeltown

3tackles and FF in 2games… no INTs, no PDs

  • steeltown

    Wow whata load of crap

  • Callentown

    Thx Steeltown!
