Titans Injury Report – Wednesday – Week 1

The Tennessee Titans have now released their first injury report of the 2013 season on Wednesday as they prepare to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at Heinz Field.

Not participating in practice Wednesday for the Titans was linebacker Zaviar Gooden (ankle), who will not play Sunday in the season opener.

Limited on Wednesday were linebacker Akeem Ayers (ankle) and tackle David Stewart (calf). Practicing fully was fullback Quinn Johnson (quadricep).

Stewart is supposed to be ready come Sunday, but should he not be able to play, Mike Otto would likely start in his place.

who should we be afraid of this weekend beside chris johnson?

The receivers. They have talent all over that offense. They just need the quarterback to get it together. Let’s hope this isn’t the magic year for Locker, or if it is, let’s hope it won’t get started until week 2.

  • The Titans offensive line. Tennessee upgraded their interior offensive line dramatically with two new guards and a center (including 1st rounder Chance Warmack), which reportedly strengthened their running game through camp and preseason. With Casey Hampton no longer anchoring the center, we should watch the interior line play closely as if Tenn can run inside consistently, they’ll eventually break long ones on the outside. If they can run, their new playmaking wide receivers will wreak damage should the defense be forced to commit eight in the box. It all hinges on the line play. Steve has to command and occupy double teams to free our ILBs for ‘search & destroy.’ It could be a long afternoon if that doesn’t happen.

I tend to agree w/ this assessment. Their line has seen a marked upgrade, which is probably why Peter King picked Chris Johnson as his projected 2013 Offensive Player of the Year.

On the other side of the ball, the OL and the RBs should be prepared against Gregg Williams’ possible blitz happy approach. He is only ‘senior assistant defensive coach’ but who knows.

Kenny Britt and the rookie Justin Hunter.. not afraid, just attentive

Yea, Tomlin and Ben both said they watched a lot of old Saints film trying to review the blitz schemes

Hopefully Ike is ready to shut down Britt this time around.
