2013 NFL Week 5 TOX Stats

Week five of the 2013 NFL season is behind us now and below are the weekly TOX stats along with the year to date numbers.

The TOX stat didn’t do so well as the plus two or better teams finished 5-3 (62.5%). The year to date record for the plus two teams is 38-11 (77.6%). If you believe in the 80% rule, then you know the TOX stat is likely due a stellar week either in week six or week seven with the other week likely coming in at around 80%. That tip is of course for my fellow degenerate friends.

The Denver Broncos are making a habit out of bucking the TOX plus two number and they have given up 11 more explosive plays than they have created on offense. When you have a quarterback like Peyton Manning and a 82.61% red zone percentage, however, it really doesn’t matter what your defense gives up.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were of course on a bye this past week and they will play the New York Jets, a team that has struggled with turnovers just like they have, this Sunday. This should be an interesting game for sure.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Steelers re-sign Will Allen now, seriously? Let’s just change the franchise name to the Pittsburgh Recyclers.

you do know DCS is injured, right?

  • cencalsteeler

Yes, I realize this. I’m just frustrated with bringing back players on a rental term. If he’s brought in for special teams play, why not promote Green, Baxter, or Alexander and give them some reps? These guys are our future, so why not utilize them instead of keeping them up on the shelf?
