2013 NFL Week 7 Stats – Adjusted Net Yards Per Passing Attempt Differential

Below are the ANY/A differential stats through the week seven games and if you look back to week six, you will see that despite the win Sunday over the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers actually slipped back into the negative side.

The failure of the Steelers offense to score seven points when they get into the red zone is really killing this team, as the defense will likely start producing more sacks and turnovers if the offense can provide bigger leads on the scoreboard than what they have managed to do over the course of the last two games. As of right now, the Steelers remain a very average team.

As previously mentioned, I like to use ANY/A differential stats as my own form of power rankings. Does this mean that the Steelers are currently a better team than the 16 ranked behind them? Outside of the New England Patriots, I would say that they are.

This coming Sunday, the Steelers will play the Oakland Raiders and it’s a game they absolutely must win. When you look at the games that the Steelers have remaining on their schedule, you will see that only three teams have an ANY/A differential stat higher than theirs. Two of those teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers, they face late in the season, so it’s not like they have a tough schedule between now and those two games.

This team really needs to take a big step forward this weekend out in Oakland and if they do, it will set up one hell of game the following week against the Patriots, who seem to be struggling a bit right now on both sides of the football.
