Mike Tomlin Not Happy With Special Teams Play Of Steelers CB Curtis Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers third-year cornerback Curtis Brown hasn’t lived up to expectations as a defensive back since he was drafted in the third-round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Texas and he found himself on the inactive list this past week for the Sunday game against the Baltimore Ravens.

During his Tuesday press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin was asked about his decision to dress cornerback Isaiah Green over Brown, who over the years has played well on special teams.

“I chose not to play Curtis, I played Isaiah Green,” said Tomlin. “Curtis is a top-flight special teams player, but hasn’t been playing that way over the course of the last several weeks.”

Brown’s downturn as a special teams player certainly doesn’t help his future status with the team. He never has turned the proverbial corner as far as his development as a defensive back, so his time on the roster might be numbered at this point if he does not turn things around quickly.

Brown has played all of 85 snaps on defense for the Steelers since he was drafted.
