2014 Draft

Report: Steelers Conditional Selection Used To Aquire Levi Brown Not From 2014 Draft

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the conditional draft pick the Pittsburgh Steelers used to acquire tackle Levi Brown from the Arizona Cardinals in last week’s trade was not one of their 2014 selections.

While we still don’t know the conditions of the pick, it now appears as though it might be for either 2015 or 2016.

According to the official NFL transaction release, the Cardinals also included a conditional draft pick as part of the deal, so that figures to be in the same year the Steelers conditional pick would be.

The conditional part of the pick could be tied to games played by Brown or even snaps played, but we aren’t likely to know unless those conditions are met. The Cardinals paid a huge chunk of Brown’s 2013 salary in order to unload him, so the Steelers really have nothing at risk in acquiring the former first-round selection.
