Steelers Bring Back Veteran S Will Allen; Waive Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith Injured

Another day and another familiar face has returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers as Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports safety Will Allen has agreed to terms.

Allen was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday after starting the first two games of the season for them. In order to make room for Allen on the roster, the Steelers waived Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith injured.

Cromartie-Smith, suffered a hip flexor injury in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings a few weeks ago.

Allen is expected to contribute mostly on special teams upon his return. So far this season he has nine tackles and an interception.

The veteran cornerback was with the Steelers for three seasons prior to signing with the Cowboys as an unrestricted free agent. Last season, he filled in admirably for safety Troy Polamalu when he was sidelined by his calf injury.
