Steelers Injury Report: G David DeCastro And WR Markus Wheaton Listed As Not Practicing

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field Wednesday as they now get ready to play the New England Patriots this coming Sunday. The first injury report of the week is now out.

Guard David DeCastro (ankle), nose tackle Steve McLendon (illness), cornerback Curtis Brown (not injury related) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) did not practice Wednesday.

DeCastro, according to Jim Wexell on Twitter, is walking without limp and said his ankle feels good. That certainly is good news and hopefully he can practice by the end of the week.

Guard Ramon Foster (concussion), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related) were all limited Wednesday while guard/tackle Guy Whimper (knee) and linebacker Lawrence Timmons (hand) both participated fully.

Whimper being able to work fully after hyper-extending his left knee Sunday is also good news. That fact that Wheaton wasn’t able to practice is a bit discouraging, so we will have to wait and see if he remains sidelined for the rest of the week.

As far as linebacker Sean Spence goes, Ed Bouchette reported on Twitter that he was back doing drills on Wednesday so that too is encouraging.

I should also point out that tight end Richard Gordon, who missed the last two games with a great toe injury, is not on the injury report to start the week.
