Steelers Injury Report: WR Markus Wheaton Has Finger Surgery

According to Missi Matthews of Steelers.com, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton has had surgery on the pinky finger that he broke Sunday during the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Wheaton played a season-high 36 snaps against the Vikings and finished the game with three catches for 26 yards. It is unknown how long he will be sidelined, but now is a good time for surgery with the Steelers now on their bye week.

Head coach Mike Tomlin also told Matthews they “tempered the work” of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, tight end Heath Miller (knee), running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (hamstring) this week during practice with the team currently on a bye.

In addition, guard Ramon Foster (pectoral)  did not practice. Foster suffered a sprained pectoral muscle in the first half against the Vikings, but the injury will not require surgery.
