Steelers K Shaun Suisham Named AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

Thanks to his 4-for-4 performance Sunday in the win over the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham was named the Week7 AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Suisham was good from 34, 28, 38 and 42 yards out against the Ravens with the last one being the game-winner as time expired. It was Suisham’s eighth career game-winning field goal and his sixth since signing with the Steelers in 2010.

Suisham has now been named the Special Teams Player of the Week four times during his career and it marks the third time as a member of the Steelers.

Suisham is under contract through the 2014 season.

Good for him, he’s been a nice addition. I thought the Steelers were crazy when they gave him $6MIL, but just another example of the FO knowing more than most. Hopefully we can get him locked up for a few more yrs

Mr. Automatic, Mr. Clutch, Mr. Dependable, whatever you want to call him he needs a contract extension ASAP! Hate to think where we would be without him!

Glad to see him get recognized. I admire the fact he has put in a lot of work this offseason. His leg strength has improved. Most of his kickoffs are nonreturnable taking the return game away from opponents. Last year, his kickoff distance was a perfect scenario for kick returners. They were able to catch his kicks on the run and get some nice field position on us (goal line to 5 yard line).
