Steelers T Marcus Gilbert And G David DeCastro Receive Top Offensive Grades For Play Against Raiders

Before he went down with a right ankle injury in the third quarter, Pittsburgh Steelers right guard DavId DeCastro was on track to have another great game, according to the game rankings released Monday by Pro Football Focus.

DeCastro had the best run blocking grade of any of the Steelers offensive linemen in the loss to the Oakland Raiders and he finished as the second rated offensive player behind tackle Marcus Gilbert, who registered his best game grade of the 2013 season.

Gilbert was charged with only allowing one hurry in the game while DeCastro was charged with one hit on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Tackle Mike Adams, who played a little tight end before taking over at left tackle because of all of the injuries suffered on the offensive line during the game, finished with the third highest grade on offense even though he allowed three hurries.

As far as offensive players that didn’t grade out well, tackle Kelvin Beachum finished with the worst grade thanks to him allowing two sacks, five hurries and two quarterback hits in the game. Also grading out poorly was fellow offensive lineman Guy Whimper, who left the game with a knee injury early in the third quarter after he had took over for the injured Ramon Foster.

Tight ends David Paulson and Heath Miller also received grades in the red from PFF and it was mostly because of their blocking, or lack thereof.
