Steelers Restructured The Contract Of Ike Taylor To Free Up Cap Space

Due to the lack of salary cap space, the Pittsburgh Steelers have restructured the contract of cornerback Ike Taylor in order to free up much needed room.

According to the NFLPA, the Steelers turned all but the minimum of Taylor’s 2013 base salary into a signing bonus which dropped his cap number down from just under $9.5 million to just under $8 million.

Following all of the recent roster moves, the Steelers are now $1,735,391.00 under the cap, according to the NFLPA.

If you have been following the recent back and forth of the Isaac Redman contract, it now turns out it was fully guaranteed as originally believed. An agent told me on Monday that it wasn’t after I had written all offseason that it was.

We will have more on Taylor here shortly and what this now means for him.
