Steelers Rookie WR Markus Wheaton To Miss Game Against The Jets

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie receiver Markus Wheaton will not play Sunday against the New York Jets as he works to recover from a broken pinky suffered in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Wheaton, who had surgery last week, has yet to have his stitches removed and that means Derek Moye will suit up as the fourth wide receiver against the Jets. This is not a surprise as we pointed out last week.

Wheaton has registered just three receptions for 26 yards in the first four games with all three coming in the game against the Vikings.

Wheaton will not have his stitches removed until next Monday, so it is yet to be seen if he will be available for the week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

tomlin couldn’t use him effectively anyway. he will activate redman.

I can’t wait for us to draft a number 1 receiver. I know the o line needs work but not as badly as we finally need a true number 1

  • Brantley Stockton

We have one of the best #1 receivers in the league already

  • Jim McCarley

In Pittsburgh, it’s not fashionable to have receivers over six feet tall or with a bit of girth to them……They seem to prefer the little guys.

A big receiver is a want not a need right now. Way to many other issues to address before a big WR. Your whole point is negated by the fact we have zero o-line.
We also have to address NT, CB, free safety and DE positions. The priority will be LT and LG in this coming draft. Steelers will/should be looking at the next 3 drafts to fill the void of Kiesel, Taylor and Clark on the defense side alone.

i didnt say big, i said a number 1. we need oline help yeah, nt is fine with mcLendon, cb also yes. but you forget that after this year we only have antonio brown, wheaton, and moye. if right now we traded sanders for a.j green and kept the o line how it is, then this season would be very different.

Another Black & Gold “big receiver”, Derek Moye, will be activated this week. At 0-4, it’s time to see what we’ve got for the future, so…now is #14’s time to show us fans his value, for now and for tomorrow.
I completely agree with your opinion re: the Steelers’ apparent needs going into next year’s draft/free agent market. Another quality LB wouldn’t hurt, either.
