The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Raiders Recap & More Episode

Season 4, Episode 38 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I get right into recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers disgusting 21-18 loss Sunday to the Oakland Raiders as their playoff hopes now very well may have disappeared into the Black Hole of the Coliseum.

After recapping the injuries and subsequent juggling of the offensive line that took place during the game, we go back through the game and focus on discussing the key plays and situations that led to the loss.

After working through the first half and most of the second, you can bet that we spend a good deal of time on the end of game time management along with the strategy and play calling that went along with it.

As usual, a few more talking points are mixed in for good measure.

Thanks for listening and don’t forget to call or email with questions or comments and please pass us along to your friends!

Thank you Dave’s for pointing out the last sequence where Ben played referee and then inexplicably chose 5 yards over 35 seconds down 2 scores by burning a gigantic time-out. One of the most idiotic sequences of time from a franchise quarterback i’ve ever seen. It’s a concept that even I understood by the time I was a 7th grade quarterback. He needs to be called to the carpet on that crap, so I’m glad somebody did.

Lord knows there are plenty of other things to complain about, but Ben’s idiotic clock management decisions really chapped my butt the most…and this isn’t the first bone-headed thing he’s done in that regard.

Good breakdown, especially of the last sequence. Ben is completely at fault for the TO, bonehead move for a vet QB, unlike Stafford’s amazing heads up play.
Hard to overlook though that this offense needs 7-9 mins to have an effective drive/scoring opportunity (usually a fg unfortunately). Do you have any stats on YAC in this offense? Seems like we get none in this offense (except the FBs) and the wrs are usually coming back to the ball or running a fly route.
Looking back, by firing BA, who Ben vehemently supported, the Steelers effectively said we don’t believe in you either Ben (or your style of play). What a colossal mistake! Plain and simple, Haley HAS TO GO, and they need to get on the same page with their star QB or start the search for another one.
