Bills Starting Offense Includes Three Former Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Buffalo Bills this coming Sunday and their offense will include three players who will look mighty familiar.

Left guard Doug Legursky, who played in 55 games for the Steelers from 2009-2012, will presumably make his fifth straight start at left guard for the Bills Sunday at Heinz Field. An unrestricted free agent this past offseason, the Steelers decided to move on from him. In the 281 snaps that Legursky has played for the Bills so far this season, he hasn’t allowed a sack and has given up just one quarterback hit and six total hurries, according to Pro Football Focus.

At right guard for the Bills is Kraig Urbik, who the Steelers drafted in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. After being inactive for the entire 2009 season, the Steelers waived Urbik prior to the start of the 2010 season and the Wisconsin product would go on to sign with the Bills. Since 2010, Urbik has started 37 games in Buffalo and he’s allowed just three quarterback sacks in the 1,399 pass blocking snaps he has played.

Starting at fullback for the Bills this week will be Frank Summers, who the Steelers selected in the fifth-round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Summers rookie season in Pittsburgh was washed out by a back injury and after spending some time on the team’s practice squad in 2010, he was released for good. So far this season, Summers has played 120 snaps on offense for the Bills.

The Bills also currently have a few other former Steelers on their roster as well in defensive end Corbin Bryant and punter Brian Moorman. Moorman was in Pittsburgh during training camp and the preseason but released during the final round of cuts.
