Steelers Ben Roethlisberger Named AFC Offensive Player Of The Month

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.

So far this month, the Steelers are 3-1 and Roethlisberger has passed for 1,188 yards, 11 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He currently owns a 100.5 passer rating for the month in addition.

Roethlisberger, who also spent the month denying claims that he would ask to be traded following the season, used more no-huddle offense during the last several weeks, which resulted in him being sacked only once in the last two games.

The Steelers quarterback has completed 61.8% of his passes so far this month and can close out November in grand fashion with a win Thursday night over the Baltimore Ravens.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Just read an article about Irsay and the Colts and his recent twitter rant, oh my god am I glad to be a Steelers fan with the Rooney’s at the helm. This guy just sounds like a complete moron, saying things like …no excuses, no explanations, hide weaknesses, accent strengthens we gotta get our heads out of our butts-WAKE UP….

This is coming from the CEO, terrible

  • Mike Carroll

How about his tweet about getting hijacked and stormed by machine gun maniacs? Irsay provides some good laughs for the average NFL fan, but man, I feel bad for Colts fans. We are lucky to have the Rooneys.

  • steeltown

No doubt.. and his golf club reference is comical

  • srdan

I think he was hanging out with the Toronto mayor the last couple days.

  • westcoasteeler

So glad you made this statement. Except for the Pom Poms. Understand that those two have stats and are incredible, but I like my QB in the playoffs. And with a win tomorrow(I hope Baltimore can here my TD celebrations from the west coast) Ben jr will have to start looking for playoff gear

  • blackandgoldBullion

Yes, we are spoiled by success, spoiled by Lombardis in the trophy case, and spoiled by the calm demeanor of the head honchos in the organization, the Rooneys. I would take them over anyone else.

We live in the age of “Manic-depressive-what-have-you-done-for-me-in-the-last-10-minutes-Twitter-act-stupid-think-later” society.

Slow down and think, child! And some of the idiot adults, also.

  • steeltown

I think you offended one of the “idiot adults” haha

  • blackandgoldBullion

Just one! Give me an audience, damn it! I want to offend them all! Kidding.

    Have fun.

  • SteelerFanInMD

Once they got the offensive line in order, Roethlisberger’s stats got better and the team started winning.

i laugh at all the “FANS” who were saying he was washed up and they need to trade him a month ago, he cant get rid of the ball, to dumb to read a defense, now there all singing how he is a elite QB and underrated again, congrats to Ben and thumbs up to the real fans that stood by and defended him

  • JohnnyV1

I”m happy for Big Ben! He’s made some mistakes (a few big ones) and doesn’t always have the gaudy stats of Brees, Brady, Rogers, etc, but he’s one tough due who is supremely talented at this game we love so much. Nice to see some recognition go his way.

Congrats to Ben and the team. Careful mocking fans by putting words into their mouths. Know this from a huge fan, Ben is offensive player of the month; Ben never was, nor ever will be elite; Ben threw a few balls in Detroit game that should have been picked; Ben has been so beaten up his best days are probably behind him; Ben is terrible at getting rid of the ball; Ben still eats up way too high of a percentage of salary cap for his value and I’d trade an $18M Ben for an $8M QB and a $10M LT in a heart beat.

Fans who share that opinion are no less fans than the ones who think Ben has never done any wrong. If you look hard enough you might find 6 fans who thought re-signing Willie “toast” Gay was a good idea, no less loyal than the millions who almost cried this August. Sure, not that many are man enough to admit they’re wrong. I particularly love the taste of crow when it comes to Willie Gay stepping up or Marcus Gilbert throwing a few blocks…I’d love to order the “Big Ben Super Bowl MVP” Crow, please…but I don’t see that happening and if it did it won’t necessarily mean I won’t be complaining next fall that we don’t have a LT, a second CB or a backup TE worthy of a roster spot because our QB makes too much coin.

We’re all entitled to our opinions, you can point to the player of the month award and laugh and say you’re right and I’m wrong and we can have a debate about it…but please don’t ever imply I’m less of a fan because of it, that is just bad logic.

Lets hope for more trade rumors so Ben stays all fired up.

  • Eric

May Dad was the President of one of Robert Irsay’s company. Robert Irsay was said to be a total a$$. Like father, like son.

Who is that 8 million dollar quarterback?
