Steelers Injury Report: G David DeCastro & WR Markus Wheaton Cleared To Practice

During his Tuesday press conference, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin updated the injury situation as the team will now prepare to host the Buffalo Bills this Sunday at Heinz Field.

Guard David DeCastro (ankle) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) have both been cleared to practice Wednesday, according to Tomlin. DeCastro was inactive this past Sunday due to an ankle injury suffered against the Oakland Raiders while Wheaton has been sidelined ever since he broke his pinky finger in the game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Tackle Kelvin Beachum (left hip flexor), defensive end Cameron Heyward (left knee contusion) and center Fernando Velasco (thigh bruise) were all banged up this past Sunday and all could be limited in practice early on in the week as a result.

Tackle Marcus Gilbert (right ankle), cornerback Ike Taylor (concussion) and linebacker Vince Williams (concussion) will be monitored this week as well and as a result, all three could be limited early in the week. Taylor and Williams will need to pass a few more concussion test before returning to practice fully and being cleared to play.

As for linebacker Sean Spence, Tomlin says the team has yet to decide whether or not he will be activated to the 53 man roster or placed on injured reserve by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
