Steelers Injury Report: LB LaMarr Woodley And T Marcus Gilbert Both Limited On Tuesday

The Tuesday injury report for the Pittsburgh Steelers is now out and it includes a few players that were not listed on the Monday report.

As expected, nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) did not practice on Tuesday and he’s already been ruled out for the Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Limited on Tuesday were linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf), tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) and safety Troy Polamalu (not injury related). Head coach Mike Tomlin noted Monday during his press conference that Tuesday would be an important day for Woodley and a few others, and being as he was limited, it looks as if he might just miss a third straight game with a calf injury.

Practicing fully on Tuesday were defensive end Brett Keisel (foot), safety Shamarko Thomas (ankle) and linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (hamstring). Sylvester is not expected to play against the Ravens, but it looks like Keisel and Thomas might as long as they are able to go again on Wednesday without any issues.

An interesting story would be what the team does on various practice days. Walk throughs? Limited contact? Sprints and stretching? Film?

The coach changes the practices accordingly. For instance on a short week nobody is allowed to play ping pong. Wait, I mean on a long week nobody is allowed to play ping pong. Wait, maybe it’s on a short week vets can play ping pong but rookies can’t? I can’t keep up 🙂

An ESPN story says that Woodley weighs between 280-290 lbs. Any truth to that ?

  • Lucus Rodriguez

Woodley is probably the slimmest he has been in 3-4 years. So No

  • Shea Fahr

I would not start him over Will Allen right now but Sharks participation in ST’s will certainly be appreciated with Brown out on IR

  • CrazyTerry

They might as well say Woodley is out for the game. Why even distract the team. We have seen this story repeated too many times. As i said before, add 4 weeks to the timeframe the team tends to think he will be ready.

Agreed, Id put him in on certain plays I think to maybe match up with Ray Rice but you’re right we do not want to change too much right now. Interesting though Shark played more than 3/4 of the defensive snaps (76%) in the last Ravens game. I think he matches up well with Rice, but again like you said and also considering he is coming off of injury, he should be used primarily on special teams

I certainly hope Woodley goes on a tear when he returns. Glad to see Shamarko back at full participation

What’s up with Gilbert? Man we will need him. Hurry up Woodley and get back on the field.

  • Steeler Wheeler

LMAO, I tried to vote that up twice!!!!!! Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!

  • Steeler Wheeler

More importantly, how much turkey would an NFL team eat? glad I don’t have to clean up after that.

  • Steeler Wheeler

Love Shark but I gotta agree that Allen makes more plays. Too soon to put Shark in for Clark…but I reserve the right to change my mind about that tomorrow night.

  • Steeler Wheeler

Gilbert or Adams or any warm body off the street to play right tackle poorly? Are you serious or joking that we need Gilbert I’m not certain?

  • Chad H

Stated in the fact that I don’t want “The Whimp” on the field.
