Steelers Might Have To Promote G Chris Hubbard From The Practice Squad On Saturday

With Pittsburgh Steelers right guard David DeCastro now officially ruled out for the Sunday game against the New England Patriots with an ankle injury, the team will now have to decide whether or not to promote an offensive linemen from the practice squad on Saturday.

The loss of DeCastro leaves the Steelers with only seven offensive linemen and two of them, Ramon Foster (concussion) and Guy Whimper (knee), are coming off of games that they did not finish due to injuries. Both practiced this week, however, and were listed as probable on the Friday injury report.

The Steelers could attempt to only dress all seven for the game, but they then would have to hope that none are injured during pre-game warmups the way Levi Brown was just a few short weeks ago.

Should a move indeed be made, the likeliest candidate to be promoted on Saturday would be undrafted free agent guard Chris Hubbard, who played a lot at left guard during the preseason.

To make room for Hubbard on the 53 man roster, the Steelers could waive linebacker Kion Wilson once again. Wilson, who was promoted from the practice squad a few days prior to the game against the Oakland Raiders, wound up being one of the seven inactives on Sunday.
