The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Patriots Recap & More Episode

terriblepodcast

Season 4, Episode 41 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I get right into recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers 55-31 loss Sunday to the New England Patriots.

We spend a lot of time talking about both sides of the football and go over the poor play by several individuals in the process. We try to pick out a few positives, but of course there aren’t many.

We move on to talk about the health of the team coming out of the game and whether or not quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should have been on the field at the end. In addition, we take another look at the coaching staff and the future of several high-priced players on defense.

As usual, a few more talking points are mixed in for good measure.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Don’t forget, Cowher was there when we drafted Ben and Troy. Without those two, exactly how many super bowl trophies do you think we’d have right now? Think about that for a while.

he did not want ben he was over ruled

  • StarSpangledSteeler

I agree with David that Todd Haley has been at least proficient in his play calling. He needs to improve his red zone play calling but keep in mind we are severely limited in red zone personel. Miller? Moye?

  • http://www.nyob.com/ Dr. Doom

Miller seems to have trouble separating and Moye has shown he can do one thing but the other opportunity he dropped it.

  • T R

I been saying that for weeks. Agrees with your podcast.. We need a big WR.. i wish would could got Justin Blackmon for cheap, maybe we still can if they reinstate him back in the league… we cant afford Larry Fitz.. we gotta draft a big WR with our first pick next year.. Dave you was really grabbing for a pot of god with Detroit waving megatron.. that was funny. LOL but thats what we need.

  • T R

Exactly doom. do not give Cowher credit for Ben.. he did not want to draft Ben..

  • T R

Did Moye get a pass throw to him.. how many snaps did he even play?

  • http://www.nyob.com/ Dr. Doom

Last thing we need is a dope head no thank you. He is closing in on a lifetime ban

  • T R

this is tru… hey but we just need something cheap right now.. we can afford nothing else. till Troy, Ryan and Ike leave.

  • Kevin Artis

Hire Pat Kirwan as new GM and Steve Mariucci as Offensive Coordinator.

  • Luke Shabro

As DB said, Miller has lost a step and might not ever get it back. Father Time is undefeated and our greatest tight end is no exception. Moye will be a 4th/5th WR forever. We have no answers, truly.

  • ND_Steel

Did anyone see the Patriots uncover our gunners on the line drive punt in the 3rd Qtr? They pulled in tight for an all out rush. Why would you not hike it and throw to one of the gunners? It was an easy first down when the game was still 27-24.

  • srdan

I did see that, and thougth if it was the other way around, the patriots would have been coached to do so.

  • srdan

I don’t think Haley is going anywhere. He is not bad but he does not coach to his teams ability. Two offensive coordinators with the same result, lots of sacks and deep throws. Ben is what he is. Let him be that and maximize it. Quit trying to make him a west coast qb. You’ll have a better shot at teaching my german shepherd not to bark when someone rings the doorbell. He was bred to do that, you can’t change genes or teach an ole dog new tricks.
Lebeau does not have the personnel to run his system. We have not gotten pressure on the QB since we lost the superbowl to GB. You can’t fault the system becasue it has worked for so long.
Polumalu to me looks the exact same as he always has. Some guesses make us look good while others expose us. Thsi year is a lot of the second kind. We always say we want splash plays, so let him do that with the understanding that you give up something in return. The major difference is that in the past alot of his guessing was covered up by Clarks discipline and speed. While Ryan was never fast, he has gotten much much slower. Almost like he has a bad hammy out there.

The truth is that the NFL is a qb league. And we have one of the better ones. Although he is digressing if you ask me. The talent is there on the field around him, sure we lack some just like every other team. It is a game of inches and we have lost 4 games where you could make the arguement that it could have went the other way. One thing has to be highlighted is that htis team is not ready to play for 4 quarters. We tied the game in teh 3rd vs the Patriots. And then, what happened? Tomlin does not have the entire team ready from the first whistle. But the real problem is that he does not have vocal leaders on this team. Say what you want about JPeezy, but we never lacked fire when he was out there. Miss 55.
