Tomlin Text To Glazer: “If Anybody Thinks I, Or Anybody Else Would Do This On Purpose, They’re Crazy”

In a text to NFL Insider Jay Glazer, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin denied that he purposefully tried to interfere with Baltimore Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones Thursday night in the third quarter.

The text to Glazer read: “If anybody thinks I or anybody else would do this on purpose, they’re crazy.”

As far as the punishment that Tomlin will receive from the league this coming week, Glazer insisted that it will not include the loss of a draft pick.

“That’s has never been discussed,” said Glazer. “They didn’t take it away from the Jets and they deemed that to be on purpose, you cant do it for the Steelers.”

Glazer has been on top of this from the start and is as connected as anyone in the business. Tomlin will likely get fined, but as I stated in an earlier post, I will be surprised if a draft pick is lost as a result of his actions Thursday night.

    this is just to confusing

Thank you Howie Long. Someone with common sense.

  • JayBirdDC

He text Glazer. Am I the only one that thinks that is weird and awkward?

  • WilliamSekinger

On a more depressing note…I wish my beloved Steelers were as fun to watch as this Seahawk team is 🙁

  • Elijah Stevenson

I kinda have mixed feelings v with the whole thing, I hope coach tomlin is telling the truth all he needs to do is accept the fine and the one game suspension and move on.

  • Elijah Stevenson

We would be more exciting to watch if Haley would trust Ben to throw the ball more

  • Don

??? He’s on pace to break his own team record….

  • Gerardo Herrero Morales

Tomlin not only a mediocre coach, hes a cheater, and has embarrased the Steelers. He must go!!

  • Eric

Is this season not punishment enough?

  • Rick M

Coach, there is now video evidence that you took a step closer to the field in the middle of the return when you saw Jones racing up the sideline on the Jumbotron. What possible reason would there be for taking that step other than to impede or crowd Jones? Why don’t you just man up and admit it?

I feel sorry for Dan Rooney. He’s revered as a gracious, fair and ethical guy and you’ve tarnished that a little. You represent Mr. Rooney through your actions. How about some honesty and genuine contrition Mr. Tomlin?

this is one those times i was glad i didnt have internet for a week or able to see sports shows so i didnt have to see or hear about this …i can go by from what i saw during the game ..he did go on to field to keep him off the side line …so what ever nfl does with in what ever other coaches were fined or delt with is ok with me ….i just hope he owns up to it and sets a good example for the guys he coaches …in saying that he is a coach and also a part of the team just as a player is so was it wrong yes should he be punished yeah but it worked but he got caught some do some dont he did so let the punishment begin and move on .

  • Jason

Exactly! I think some people complain about Haley because they have nothing realistic to add. Ben is having a great year and throwing the ball a lot.

He’ll get punished, fine and possible suspension.. I trust that will be the last time he attempts this act if indeed it was malicious

  • Johnny Loose

I’m over this already. We lost anyway. He’ll get a fine and suspension plus he’ll be under a microscope from now on so it won’t happen again. Next subject..
