Steelers 2013 Season Is Over

Thanks to the San Diego Chargers beating the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, there will be no playoffs for the 8-8 Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop missed a 41 yard kick with less than 10 seconds left in regulation that would have sent the Steelers to the playoffs.

In overtime, the officials called Chargers safety Eric Weddle down on a fake punt rush even though no whistle had been blown. Weddle had the ball ripped out on the play, and it appeared to happen before a player’s helmet came off. The gutsy call kept the drive alive and the Chargers ultimately finished it with a field goal. The Chiefs had one more possession in which they could have tied or won the game, but they couldn’t pull it off.

More coming.
