Steelers Add G Bryant Browning To Practice Squad

With tackle Joe Long now gone from the practice squad after being poached Wednesday by the Chicago Bears, the Pittsburgh Steelers quickly filled the vacated spot by signing free agent guard Bryant Browning.

Browning was originally signed by St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in July of 2011 out of Ohio State where he appeared in 52 games with 40 starts.

After being waived by the Rams, Browning was signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad on Sept. 6, 2011. He spent the first 11 weeks of the season there before being signed to the Panthers active roster. He played in just one game before having his season ended because of a wrist injury.

After spending time with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, Browning was added to the Buffalo Bills practice squad this past October. That stint lasted until the end of November as he was eventually released.

The PS changes weekly. Nothing to read into here.

He’s always available since no other team wants him.

Why an OG? We have Foster, DeCastro, Wallace, Whimper, Olsen, Snow and Hubbard and Velasco and Embernate on IR… I know Foster and Whimper can push out and play Tackle in a pinch but I would think they need more Tackle capable bodies for practice during the week.

Something interesting.. look how many guys we have capable of playing Center on this Team – Pouncey, Velasco, Wallace, Olsen, Snow and that’s not including Foster and Beachum who have also taken snaps at C pretty crazy when you think about how entered the OTA’s (unsure of who would backup Pouncey)

Pouncey is Guard capable as well. I agree…That is ALOT of Guards!

    funny !

Ha ha, I guess that rules out us taking a OG or Center in the 1st rd. if not the whole draft!
