A Look At Who Steelers Fans Should Be Rooting For Sunday In Three Key Games

The loss to the Baltimore Ravens certainly put a damper on the chances of the Pittsburgh Steelers to make the playoffs, but a lot of football remains to be played. Thanks to the mediocrity in the AFC, the Steelers still have a shot at making the post season tournament and that shot can be improved somewhat depending on what happens Sunday in three games.

Below is a look at those three games and what Steelers fans should be hoping for in the way of their outcomes.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts

I think we can all agree that Steelers fans should be rooting for the Colts in this game. The Titans, thanks to a win in the season opener over the Steelers, hold the head-to-head tie breakers, so they must finish with a worse record than Pittsburgh does. After this week, the Titans will have Denver, Arizona, Jacksonville and Houston left on their schedule and it would hurt for them to finish the season 7-9 just in case.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

The Steelers already own head-to-head tie breakers over the Jets thanks to the win over them back in Week 6. Being as the Dolphins are the Steelers next opponent, they can take care of the head-to-head with them by beating them. With that out of the way, Steelers fans probably need to hope for a Dolphins win. Regardless of what happens in this game, both teams really have a tough schedule to close things out and that includes the Dolphins playing the Patriots the week after they play the Steelers.

Cincinnati Bengals at San Diego Chargers

Outside of the Ravens, the Chargers are the team that Steelers fans should be the most worried about when it comes to battling for the final Wild Card spot. Let’s face it, the Steelers chances of winning the AFC North are pretty much out the window now thanks to their loss Thursday night. With that being said, the Steelers will likely need the Chargers to lose as many games possible down the stretch.
