Steelers Injury Report: Beachum, Keisel Might Be Back For Bengals Game

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin updated the injury status of the team on Tuesday during his weekly press conference as they prepare to play the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday night at Heinz Field.

According to Tomlin, tackle Kelvin Beachum (knee) has an opportunity to play this week, but he will probably be limited in practice early on in the week. The same goes for defensive end Brett Keisel (foot), who had an extended workout on Monday as he attempts to come back from his foot sprain. Tomlin said he that he will be watched closely.

Tomlin expects no steps backwards this week from guard David DeCastro (foot), nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) and linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) as far as their injuries go, however, they could all be limited early in the week as far as practice goes. Defensive end Ziggy Hood (ankle) was able to return to the game and finish on Sunday, but that might limit him early on in the week as well.

Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) suffered a shoulder contusion on Sunday and like the others, he too could be limited early in the week.

“From a health standpoint, we anticipate having most, if not all of our guys, available,” said Tomlin.

What’s our draft position look like now? Top ten? 15?

  • steeltown

Now that we’re basically out of it, we’ll “have most, if not all of our guys available”

  • DrakePirate

Unless we win out, we should be a solid 10-12th pick … they should start using more of the rooks and young guys to see what we got and give them some more game time experience which will be valuable next year

  • Eric

True that. The injury bug left with our playoff chances

Could not agree more. Why allow Sanders, assuming we play from behind a lot the next few games, the opportunity to get cheap stats to pad a potential FA contract while retarding the development of Wheaton??!!! I want to see Thomas, Woods, Arnfelt, Wheaton and see if Beachum has a legit shot to be a mainstay in the Max Starks price-range and ability where he is not wonderful but you know what you are getting. Too many holes to risk a top ten pick on a LT that in his second contract will cost too much! Would love to see Sammy Watkins here! I also hate to admit it but hope Worilds does not rack up more sacks which will just drive his asking price up as teams like the lowly Browns, Jags, et. al others will drive up his price.

  • steeltown

Could also throw Moye, Fangupo, Garvin, Blake and Green in that conversation as well… but I doubt anyone mentioned besides Beachum and Wheaton will see the field

  • cencalsteeler

Agree. But, I believe Tomlin stated he was putting his best players on the field at the presser.

  • alevin16

Yes, now that we are basically out of it we are going to destroy each team in our last three games.

  • Elijah Stevenson

The only way we make is if we win all three games and have all SD BAL and MIA lose at the same time.

  • Elijah Stevenson

Yeah I don’t want to c Sanders next year, and have both Wheaton and Moye more on the field. Wheaton has only had 64 yards this season because Sanders took his spot and what do u get from him nothing but dropped balls.

  • Elijah Stevenson

What position is the most important we need because I believe we need a better OLB

  • Don

Keep Beachum out one more week and see how adams does at LT..If anything, maybe next year he can be the swing like they intended initially for beachum
