Steelers Injury Report: Le’Veon Bell Progressing; Kelvin Beachum Questionable; Brett Keisel Out

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and during it he went over the injury report as the team prepares to host the Miami Dolphins Sunday at Heinz Field.

Tomlin said tackle Kelvin Beachum (knee) won’t be practicing in the early portion of the week because of a right knee sprain. His availability for the game Sunday was characterized as questionable. Guard David DeCastro (foot) has a left foot sprain and he will also be limited early on in the week as well.

Defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) had a setback with his left foot this past Thursday and Tomlin characterized him as out for this week.

Tackle Mike Adams (ankle) will be limited in some form this week with his left ankle sprain but is expected to practice in some capacity. Running back Le’Veon Bell (concussion) practiced some on Monday in a limited capacity, according to Tomlin, ¬†and he will have to finish out the testing this week in order to play on Sunday. Tomlin said it’s been very positive with him thus far.

Nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) will also work in a limited capacity this week with his left ankle sprain and they will see where that takes him in regard to his Sunday status. The same can be said about linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf), who worked partially on Monday and will do so again on Wednesday.

Center Fernando Velasco (Achilles) ruptured his Achilles on Thursday and he had surgery to repair it on Saturday.

I hope the open roster spot goes to Spaeth. We could really use him about now.

Well I certainly hope DeCastro and Bell are good to go, would be nice to also get Woodley and Adams back as well.

Im not sure Beachum will be ready

  • Matt Manzo

Are we still looking to bring in another tackle since the Butler guy quit?

  • James Kling

I think Shar Pourdanesh is available.

If Woodley comes back it takes our best pass rusher (Worilds) out of the game for 50% of the snaps being that he’ll split time with Jones. Woodley can sit permanently for all I care.

  • steeltown

Or, you can put Woodley and Worilds on the field at the same time (using Jones in certain blitz packages) that way not allowing our highest paid defensive player to just sit on the bench and collect a check

Good to hear bell is ok, to bad for kiesal though

I think a lot of the reason for worilds recent success is due to the fact that with woodley out, he can play on the left side..He is like night n day depending on whether he lines up on the left or right…
