Steelers Injury Report: Sanders Added As Limited; McLendon, Polamalu Sit Again

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Thursday practice as they prepare to host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night and the latest injury report includes one new addition.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (foot) was added Thursday as being limited in practice, so that warrants keeping an eye on moving through the end of the week.

Not practicing for a second straight day were defensive end Brett Keisel (foot), nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) and safety Troy Polamalu (shoulder). McLendon and Polamalu are expected to practice in some capacity on Friday and play on Sunday. Keisel, however, might not make it back this week.

Practicing fully on Thursday were tackle Kelvin Beachum (knee), wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder), guard David DeCastro (foot), tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle) and defensive end Ziggy Hood (ankle). All five will likely be listed as probable on Friday.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

    More Wheaton!

  • Jacob Dixon

I agree it is annoying on how little marcus Wheaton has been used this season

  • T R

he is a rookie.. good grief.. what u expect him to be rookie of the year..aint many rookies blowing up stats this year on any team… if not injury of vets ahead of them..

  • Jacob Dixon

I know he is a rookie but at least let him return punts and kicks because he can provide a spark at kick returner and keep Antonio brown healthy by keeping brown off punt returner

  • westernsteel

Ya, the guy has to get on the field

  • T R

yeah i understand you. i want to see him more too. but with cotch playing so well and we gotta get out moneys worth out of sanders before he leave we just got go wit that.

  • Elijah Stevenson

Man wish Keisal would play this week good to hear that Mclendon and polamalu week be ok. If Sanders won’t play, it’s time for Wheaton to shine.

  • Elijah Stevenson

Absolutely, he only has 64 yards this season but he averages 10.7 yards per carry the kid has talent. The coaching staff needs to stop limiting him. Also there’s a receiver named Justin Brown who we drafted this year who’s 6″4 that’s another weapon we can use.

  • Elijah Stevenson

True but he can only learn to be a good WR on the field not off the field.

  • Bob Graff

Ok i’m going to say it again Tomlin and his band of idiots have no clue what they are doing. Yes we need to start seeing if there is any talent in this draft class. And that bull crap about our schemes being so complicated is absurd. We are a below average team and need to accept it and we aren’t that complicated ask the teams we played. In my opinion unless these players are ready to play for the league min. they need go [they have already been over payed] Keisel,Troy , Ike, Clark, Foote,, F. Jones, J.Dwyer, L.S.H., Foster, Sanders, . Then cut every TE but Miller but ask for a pay cut and Woodely needs a pay cut as well. As for the young players that haven’t seen playing time well it’s time. And if they can’t play by now, get rid of them we have seen too many bad draft choices hang around for years.. This team has an unbalanced over payed roster take care of it right now. And start building a high quality team for the future. BTW get rid of all these homer ass. coaches we need only high quality coaches not Tomlin’s and Haley’s buddies.

But what do you really think? :-)

  • T R

learning is for practice, putting the best people out there on game time is i assume what is being done…

  • Jazz

So True, but at least they have a coaching staff that understands the best way to learn is to put them on the damm field. When the hell will Mike Tomlin pull his head out of his A$$ and see what he has in these players? Now granted, if Wheaton isn’t ready, then this conversation is irrelevant. I just would hate to see a guy sit on the bench for two seasons, get one year out of him only to see him depart in free agency in year #4.

  • Jazz

I agree, why not see what these young WR’s have? I’ve supported Mike Tomlin long enough, he doesn’t know how to judge talent at all.

  • Bob Graff

This team needs an enema. Sometimes things need to be washed away before you can start over. That’s very clearly the case with the Steelers
