Steelers Offensive And Defensive Snap Counts From Week 17 – Browns

Below are the snaps counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-7 Sunday win over the Cleveland Browns along with some observations.

Offensively, about the only thing that sticks out is that Derek Moye played three more snaps than Markus Wheaton did. Maybe this had to do with Wheaton's fractured finger more than anything else.

Defensively, Stevenson Sylvester saw a lot more playing time than Chris Carter did at left outside linebacker. That shouldn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling at all heading into the offseason. Thankfully, Jarvis Jones played every snap after missing the previous week with an illness. Nose tackle Steve McLendon only played 12 snaps before he left the game with an ankle injury.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Kind of worry some that Moye got more snaps than Wheaton.

  • steeltown

Might be because he offers a different skill set, have a taller threat when going 5wide, instead of having Brown, Sanders and Wheaton all on the field at the same time…

  • steeltown

Nice to see Cortez Allen play every snap, had two more PDs

There has to be issues with Wheatons development. I would rather had Stedman Bailey at that pick. He is doing things with the Rams and we got zero out of our 3rd round pick. I would have figured by week 6 he would start to take playing time from Cotchery.

  • srdan

I had the same thought, but then I would expect to see it sprinkled into the offense without injuries. Maybe it is and I miss it.

  • srdan

I woudln’t knock him for that. 89 is a lot better than he gets credit for.

Bailey is good. He is outpacing thier first round pick.

  • steeltown

    Cotchery caught 10TDs this season

  • Beaver Falls Hosiery

More important than Wheaton/Moye snaps is that the starting offensive line made every snap again. Good trend.

  • Ahmad

Ben and Polamalu played every snap of every game. No playoffs but still very impressive for those two.

  • Chad H

I get what you are saying about Cotchery and I didn’t mean it to sound like a bash on him at all. I like Cotchery and hope he is back next year. As a speedster the Steelers will find a way to get you the ball. That didn’t happen. Steelers vs. Packers Moye had more targets than Wheaton. All I am saying is it appears Steelers aren’t comfortable with him.
