Report: Dolphins Want To Interview Steelers Omar Khan

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Twitter, Pittsburgh Steelers Director of Football and Business Administration Omar Khan is among several people that the Miami Dolphins have requested permission to interview for their vacant general manager job.

Khan, who interviewed last year for the general manager position with the New York Jets, has been with the Steelers since 2001 and over the course of the last few years, has been considered a potential future general manager.

The Dolphins, who mutually parted ways with Jeff Ireland earlier in the week, also reportedly have interest in Arizona Cardinals vice president of player personnel Jason Licht and Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer. In addition to them, New York Giants vice president of player evaluation Marc Ross and Tennessee Titans vice president of personnel Lake Dawson will also interview with the Dolphins, as will their current assistant general manager Brian Gaine.

As I mentioned in the previous post, the Steelers know it’s only a matter of time before Khan moves on. In preparation for that eventuality, they hired Samir Suleiman last offseason to serve as an assistant to Khan. Suleiman would presumably succeed Khan whenever he finally lands a general manager position.
