Steelers Kirby Wilson Will Not Get Ravens Offensive Coordinator Position

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson interviewed for the open offensive coordinator position with the Baltimore Ravens but has reportedly been told that he will not get it.

Wilson reportedly interviewed twice with Ravens head coach John Harbaugh over the course of the last several days but it now appears as though receivers coach Jim Hostler or former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will get the job instead.

Wilson, who suffered life threatening burns on nearly half his body in a house fire just days before the Steelers played the Denver Broncos in the 2011 playoffs, was once thought to be the one who would succeed former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. The Steelers instead hired Todd Haley after Arians was let go as Wilson had a long recovery ahead of him following the fire.

The interview process will do Wilson good and while it appears as though he will not be back with the Steelers in 2014, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. You have to think that he will be a prime candidate to become an offensive coordinator next offseason.

Looks like he will not be returning back to the steelers either.. Will he go to Ravens as RB coach and wait in the winds again.. you know the Ravens change OC all the time..

Ed Bouchette just tweeted that he will not be back with the Steelers. He decided to move on.

Interesting. Did he decide on his own, or was it suggested that he move on?

looking at the how the running game has been, I think its a good time for both to go in different directions. Steelers don’t need him..

    that’s what it says.

Interesting that he goes from offensive coordinator in waiting, to leaving the team in what appears may be a lateral move. Would love to know what went on behind the scenes.

This is good news in that I didn’t want him joining the Ravens or any AFC North rival anyways.
