Steelers Sign LB Vic So’oto, RB Tauren Poole To Reserve/Futures Contracts

The Pittsburgh Steelers added two more players to their offseason roster on Monday as linebacker Vic So’oto and running back Tauren Poole both signed reserve/futures contracts.

So’oto, a 3-4 outside linebacker, was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Brigham Young in July of 2011. He has appeared in a total of 13 career games with the Packers, Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals and also spent time on the practice squads of the Packers, Washington Redskins and New Orleans Saints.

Poole was originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Tennessee in April of 2012. He missed his rookie season due to a rib injury and spent parts of the 2013 season on the practice squad of both the Panthers and Indianapolis Colts. While at Tennessee, Poole played in 50 games with 25 starts and rushed for 1,898 yards and 16 touchdowns on 423 carries.

Love Love Love the Tauren Poole signing!!!

  • Kevin Gobleck

I’ll take a shot and say Poole makes the rooster next year or atleast PS

  • Matt Manzo

Poole looks like a smaller version of Bell, maybe a little faster! We should see some good competition for RB depth this year. And not the Redman/Dwyer debacle we had last year, thank god that’s over!

  • Brian Tollini

Tauren Poole was my favorite RB in his draft class. Thought he would be a 6th-7th round pick but he went unsigned. Love this pick up too, I was so wanting the Steelers to draft him instead of Rainey.

  • Shawn Winbush

was a big fan of Poole! was hoping to draft him! glad he is getting a shot with us! hopefully,it can free up a pick for another need!love it.

Most of these futures signings this time of year are not much more than training camp fodder, but man I really like the 90man roster we are assembling this offseason.
