I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I’m feeling a bit depressed after watching the game last night, because it left me thinking the current Steelers team is long ways from truly contending for a SB. I was glad to see the Steelers offense moving in the right direction and playing well at the end the season. But, they will not win a championship with a formula where the offense is “carrying the load for change” as some fans have suggested. For all the talk about how offenses are overtaking the league, last night’s game once again confirmed that great defense almost always trumps great offense in the NFL. Unfortunately, the Steelers need a lot of work on the defensive side of the ball to build a championship caliber team.

Ditto. If we’d have backdoored into the playoffs it would have been an early exit. We do have a long way to go in many areas. There’s some offensive guys we can’t pass up in the draft if available, but I’m kinda hoping we focus on Defense. Obviously we obviously need to make some obvious changes in how me manage our cap.

I truly disagree that we ara a “long way” from contending for a championship again. I agree that our defense is definitely in need of some upgrades, such as youth, athleticism, and intensity. However we do have some young pieces in place, and if you fuse some incoming talent with what’s already here..we will be fine and back to a championship-caliber team.
