Bills Talking To Steelers About Possible Training Camp Scrimmages

The Pittsburgh Steelers might not have to only hit each other this year during training camp as they could have a scrimmage partner.

According to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, Bills head coach Doug Marrone said during his talk with the media during the NFL owners’ meeting that they are currently talking with the Steelers about practicing against each other this year during training camp.

The Bills hold their training camp at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and that’s roughly five hours away from Saint¬†Vincent¬†College in Latrobe, PA, where the Steelers gather annually for their training camp.

The Steelers have played the Bills during the preseason three times dating back to 2008, so there’s a good chance the two teams will wind up playing each other again this year prior to the start of the regular season.

The Bills aren’t a regular season opponent in 2014, and they’re certainly not what I would dub an AFC “rival.” Why not? If the coaches believe it can help, I don’t see the harm. They wouldn’t agree to it if it meant short-changing other areas of development for the team.

Sounds like a good idea. Might help the younger players to get acclimated to the game quicker. Get different looks from another team before it counts.

Awesome, I’m moving about 75 miles from Bills camp. Would love to see my Black and Gold up close and personal!

Interesting, think it would be a good move for the Steelers to have training camp scrimmages. Let some of the younger players compete against players from an opposing team, rather than their own teammates for a day.

Reminds me of those monday night games back in ’93, ’94.

    Turn up the intensity.

I love it. Hopefully they can work this out…the Steelers haven’t practiced against another team in a few years.

I remember they used to do this with the Redskins, probably back in the 80’s,maybe early 90’s
