Doesn’t Sound Like The Redskins Are Very Interested In Ryan Clark

Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent safety Ryan Clark won’t be returning in 2014 and it appears as though the Washington Redskins aren’t very interested right now in having him back, either.

Clark, who reportedly recently had a free agent visit with the team he played with for two seasons before coming to Pittsburgh, posted an unoptimistic update of his situation Friday on Twitter.

Redskins fans only following me if I’m going to be a Redskin can unfollow me for now! Still treating me the way they always have. Never know

He updated his status a little while later.

I will always appreciate the Skins taking a chance on a 24 year old working at LSU. I will never forget what they did for me. Gratitude

Unless I am interpreting these wrong, it sounds like the Redskins told Clark, “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.”

Clark is 34 and his best years are far behind him at this point. If he does wind up signing somewhere, it will likely be a one-year deal for the minimum with no guarantee he starts.

At this point he only offers decent value as depth and at the vet min … nada mas !

The fact that he’s publically said that he isn’t interested in the veteran minimum, I’d be surprised if any team is all that interested.

Sad for some of these “warriors” of the gridiron, kind of liked the way Jim Brown left the NFL. He knew he could make more in Hollywood and still had his body intact.

Love Clark, but he just cant stop running his mouth. Even in the two above captions he has to save face in his second posting because of his first

same here. really like the way he went about his job for so long in the shadow of Troy. He’s been a little too vocal the past few years for me. had to make up for the lack of production in one way or another!

Yeah, I hear ya steel…. Clark’s mouth has really rubbed Steeler fans the wrong way on his way out the door…. I still think he’ll be more remembered for his positive contributions to this organization. He’ll just have to wait a little longer for the dust to clear with the attitude he has right now. I wish him well though. I’ll never forget the lumber he layed on Willis McGahee in the AFC Championship in the ’08 season!

He was awesome for the Steelers, but he clearly declined last year and now he is a year older. He has had so many violent hits and sacrificed his body for the team so many times, I think he just needs to give it up and be remember for the kind of player he was.

They were talking about this on the Fan the other morning, saying he just can’t seem to help opening his mouth. Gianotti seemed particularly irritated with him. Said Clark told him once that he could do his job better than him.

No matter what happens I guarantee that we will see Clark next year, whether it’s on the field(doubtful) or on ESPN giving us more B.S

When Jim Brown played, football players didn’t make big money like they do today.

  • steelster

I don’t think he will get a job on ESPN because his mouth will get him into trouble.

  • Kevin Gobleck

I thought being a big mouth was part of the job description lol
