Jaguars Sign Steelers Free Agent DE Ziggy Hood

The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost another one of their unrestricted free agents as John Oehser of jaguars.com is reporting Thursday morning that defensive end Ziggy Hood has reached an agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hood, who is expected to sign his contract soon after making a visit Wednesday to Jacksonville, will more than likely be kicked inside and play a one-gap defensive tackle position in the Jaguars defense just like he did during his college career at Missouri.

Hood, the Steelers, first-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, started 46 of a possible 80 games in five seasons with Pittsburgh and never missed a game.

The Steelers lost backup defensive lineman Al Woods to the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, so that now means the team is down to just two defensive linemen currently under contract that have meaningful playing time experience.

If the Steelers do not address the defensive line at all by signing an outside free agent, they might be forced to re-sign veteran defensive end Brett Keisel at some point during the offseason.
