Jerricho Cotchery’s Visit With The Panthers Started With A Monday Night Dinner

Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery arrived in Charlotte Monday evening for his visit with the Carolina Panthers and they wasted no time in welcoming him.

According to Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer, Cotchery’s evening started with him having dinner with Panthers head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Mike Shula. Person said that Cotchery’s visit will continue into Tuesday.

It will be shock if Cotchery doesn’t sign a contract with the Panthers before leaving town. They currently only have six inexperienced wide receivers under contract for 2014 and now that both Emmanuel Sanders and James Jones are both off the free agent market, Cotchery is the best available wide receiver still unsigned.

The Steelers are preparing for inevitable it seems as they are scheduled to host former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore for a visit.

Moore might be a decent 1 possibly 2 year fix gap. FO thinking JCO is up in age and doesn’t want to over spend? Wanting to get younger? Thats fine if you go through the draft. Doesn’t seem like there is much out there in FA. Other problem is there is other positions that severly need addressed through the draft and signing JCO and drafting another wr makes the most sense. JCO couldn’t be asking for too much could he? Is there any truth to Brown bulking up to 220 and getting faster?
As you can see alot of question marks in this one……..

AB @ 220? Who reported that Ian Rappaport? AB plays at around 185 which means he would have to pack on 35 lbs of muscle to a relatively small frame while getting faster. Nearly impossible and if true look for the headline, “Steelers WR suspended for violating PED policy.” I agree with your assesment of the Cotch situation.

Haha.. I think he may mean Justin Brown from the practice squad..I hope

  • Jason

I forgot about him. LOL Perhaps that what he meant. If so my apologies Steve.

I think the Steelers did a big miscalulation this year. With the raising of the salary cap a lot of our important role who normally would not be looked at as hard were now in the picture. I think hindsight would of had the Steelers more aggressive before the the start of FA to get some of their better role playing guys signed. Cotchery is good as gone and now another position is in dire need.

I wish I could share your enthusiam on Moore. He is a one trick pony and isnt great at that. If he was our 4th WR I would have no problem with it but we need a 2-3. and he isnt neither of those and IMO not even stop gap worthy of that.

  • Steve

    Justin Brown for sure!!!!

  • Steve

    LOL that is pretty funny

  • Jason

LOL. My bad. Brain fart. I was thinking AB would have to be hanging out with Woodley a lot this off season to get to 220.
