One Less Option For The Panthers As The Raiders Have Signed Free Agent WR James Jones

If you were hoping the Carolina Panthers might look at signing Green Bay Packers free agent wide receiver James Jones in lieu of Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, your hopes have been dashed.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Oakland Raiders have now come to terms with Jones on a three-year contract.

With Jones now inked, the Panthers are really running out of options as far as free agent wide receivers go and that has to make Cotchery look very, very attractive at this point.

Cotchery is expected to visit with Carolina either Monday night or sometime on Tuesday and unless the Steelers can somehow get him signed before that visit takes place, it’s hard to imagine the Panthers letting him get out of town unsigned.

In preparation that Cotchery might sign elsewhere, the Steelers are expected to have former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore in for a visit this week.
