Report: Former Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley Visitng Raiders On Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially released linebacker LaMarr Woodley on Tuesday and as expected, he’s already drawing interest from other teams.

According to a Wednesday morning report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Woodley and former New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck are both visiting the Oakland Raiders today, per his sources.

The Raiders lost unrestricted free agent defensive end Lamarr Houston to the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, so his role in the defense appears to be one Oakland is looking to fill with a veteran. Woodley was a pass rushing defensive end and outside linebacker during his college career at Michigan.

The Steelers designated Woodley a post-June 1 cut on Tuesday and thus will have to carry his full salary and cap hit on the books until that date. He was scheduled to earn $8 million in 2014 prior to his release and will now be lucky to earn half of that amount after missing 14 games over the course of the last three seasons with various injuries.
