Report: Jaguars Free Agent RB Maurice Jones-Drew Visiting With Steelers

After being jilted by Green Bay Packers free agent running back James Starks, the Pittsburgh Steelers have now scheduled a visit with another free agent running back.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jacksonville Jaguars free-agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew is visiting the Steelers today, per a source of his.

Jones-Drew averaged a career-worst 3.4 yards per carry last season as he was hampered by a hamstring injury.

Jones-Drew has a lot of mileage on him and thus has received a cold shoulder early on in free agency. In his eight years in the league, the UCLA product has 1,804 carries for 8,071 yards and 68 touchdowns. He has also registered 335 career catches for another 2,873 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Steelers are looking for a running back with experience to back up Le’Veon Bell. In addition, the Steelers have just over $2 million in cap space avalabe, so Jones can’t expect a big offer.
