Report: Ravens, Jets Have Interest In Steelers Free Agent S Ryan Clark

Could Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent safety Ryan Clark really wind up with the Baltimore Ravens in 2014? According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports, it’s a possibility.

Pelissero reported Monday on Twitter that he recently talked to Clark and the veteran safety told him that not only are the Ravens interested in him, but the New York Jets as well.

Pelissero goes on to say that Clark’s agent is still in negotiations with the Washington Redskins as well. According to earlier reports, Clark’s asking price was too high for the Redskins.

As for the Ravens, they could use some depth at safety as they might lose unrestricted free agent James Ihedigbo during the offseason. Matt Elam started for the Ravens last season at free safety, but the team reportedly would like to move him to strong safety in 2014.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Please go to the ravens. Please.

I might vomit if I see Ryan Clark in a Ravens uniform…

  • steeltown

Two of my least favorite Teams…. good grief

  • PA2AK

If you ask Clark…every team in the NFL probably has interest. I’m betting his asking price begins to drop a bit. One thing is for sure, he won’t be unemployed in 2014. Just wonder if he’s paid to wear a uniform or a suit.

  • Jason

Whoever signs him better be willing to accept being 2nd fiddle to ESPN which is all he’s really cared about for 2 years.

  • PA2AK

would be nice to watch him try and tackle Bell though…

  • Jason

    Or cover anyone

  • PA2AK

true. we could still sign Plax…so he’d have that going for him

  • Madi

I have not noticed a lack of effort on the field from him. He can do two things at different times.

  • Eric2291

Haha. Yeah, I wouldn’t mind him signing there from a standpoint of ability. But he’s been one of my favorite Steelers of the last decade. Great guy, good player (until recently).

  • Jason

What two things would that be? ESPN and what? It wasn’t football this past season. Granted that was mainly because of his decline as a player in general not his ESPN job but when your play is less than inspiring and I have to see you all week on ESPN running your mouth it’s a little irritating. I don’t get upset when I see AB on TV because he performs at a high level every week.

  • Madi

You’ve mostly corrected yourself now, but you originally implied his play slipped because he was appearing on ESPN sometimes. Or at least that he didn’t care about the Steelers. I was calling BS. We all know his play slipped because he’s in his mid 30s. He’s always been a high character, hard working, good teammate. Even last year.

You’re entitled to your opinion that only good and young players should appear on television. But you do know you don’t HAVE to watch the guys you don’t like all week, right?

  • Jason

No I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for clarifying. Not everyone becomes so attached to players that couldn’t care less about them that they snap at anyone who dare say anything negative. I’m sure you probably loved watching Farrior chase Rb’s and TE’s lagging 2 steps behind 3 years past his prime. But as you pointed out we are entitled to our opinions. Go Steelers, both young and old.

  • Matt Manzo

    …and start!!!

  • Madi

That’s what I said. I said I enjoyed watching Ryan’s play slip, and I wish we still had him. Reading comprehension A+.

  • Jacob Dixon

    Take him please

  • Jason

And I Never Said Only Young Players Should Be On TV So Same Grade To You Professor. Now Go Iron You’re #25 Jersey And Pray We Resign Him.

  • Jason

Make That “Your” #25 Jersey. I’m Sure You’d Have Caught That Grammatical Error. lol

  • Madi

    Re-sign* ;)

  • Jason

You win. On grammar anyway, I still hated Clark doing ESPN. Go Steelers!
